Jan L. Solomon is a workshop facilitator and coach who works with individuals, corporations, and institutions for realistic, long-term solutions of their most challenging issues. She is an expert in unleashing the human spirit and in helping people produce breakthrough accomplishments.
After graduating from Rice University in Houston, Texas with a B.A. degree in Political Science in 1974, she traveled extensively for ten years, learning about societies, cultures, and traditions of Europeans, Asians, Africans, and North and South Americans.
Jan brings over 25 years of experience in leadership development and coaching. A long-term advocate for human development, in 1978 she became an activist with The Hunger Project, a global non-profit organization on the roster of the United Nations that is committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. In 1982 she began training educators to deliver a curriculum bringing a new vision of a world free from hunger to young people. From 1984 to 2002 she served in leadership roles with The Hunger Project on regional, national, and global teams, and traveled with The Hunger Project to Africa, Europe, and Japan as an activist and investor. During that time, she successfully led The Hunger Project activist/fundraising team in Florida and coached her colleagues to produce $10+ million in revenue.
Jan has been a leader in the south Florida community since 1991. One of her abiding passions being music and opera, she served on the Board of Directors of Florida Grand Opera 1992-1994; co-founded and served as President of the Board of Directors of The Camerata, an affiliate organization of Florida Grand Opera from 1992-2003; co-produced an award-winning opera educational program, “Up on OperaTalk” for eight consecutive years 1992-2000; served as Development Director for the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus, member of the Board of Directors, and as a chorus member 1995-2001.
Jan received her Master of Arts degree in International Studies from Florida International University, Miami, Florida, in 2007. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Florida International University, writing her dissertation in International Relations.
Jan served as Development Associate for the Department of International Relations and Geography at Florida International University 2004-2007. Since 2007 she has been an Ambassador and Development Officer for the Office of the Vice Provost on the Biscayne Bay Campus of Florida International University.
Jan is married to Harold C. Solomon, who was ranked #5 professional tennis player in the world in 1981 and now heads the Harold Solomon Tennis Institute in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Their daughter Rachal is a professional singer, and their son Jesse manages a racing and track operations business for Ferrari owners.
Jan brings a lifetime of knowledge and experience to Swiss Consulting Group. She facilitates others in bringing realistic and sustainable solutions to persisting problems—the making of a life worth living.
